In the first year, call Maytag, because Maytag covers all parts and labor that year. After that, Maytag’s 10-year coverage is limited to certain parts, and labor is billed either way, so many owners choose a local technician for speed and a single price. If we find that a Maytag-covered part has failed, we tell you so you can claim it.

It is a limited parts warranty on major appliances made after 2017. Maytag lists the compressor on refrigerators; the stainless tub, nylon racks and chopper on dishwashers; the drive motor and wash basket on washers; the drive motor and drum on dryers; burners, elements, the ceramic top, grates and cavity on cooking appliances; and the magnetron and cavity on microwaves. Maytag says the lid hasn’t locked. Check for clothing under the lid, clean the striker and hold Start for up to 3 seconds. Our lid lock guide has the rest.

On electric dryers, check both breakers first; Maytag’s L2 code means low line voltage. On gas dryers, make sure the gas valve is open. After that it is usually an element, igniter or thermal fuse. See Maytag dryer repair.
