Book NowWhirlpool appliance repair starts with the right diagnosis. Whirlpool washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges and refrigerators report most faults as a code, and Whirlpool publishes what many of those codes mean, but often names only the area to check, not the part that failed. An ALAS technician reads the code, tests the part behind it and confirms the cause before recommending a repair, so you only pay for what actually failed. We repair Whirlpool refrigerators, ice makers, top-load and front-load washers, electric and gas dryers, dishwashers, ranges, wall ovens, cooktops and microwaves for homeowners, rental properties and businesses across Dallas–Fort Worth. ALAS is an independent repair company: every repair comes with a written estimate first, a 90-day warranty and 12 months on sealed-system work.

What Whirlpool says the most common codes mean, checked against Whirlpool’s own support pages. Codes vary by model, and your technician confirms the cause before any repair.
Tell us the code on your display and we will explain it.

ALAS technicians service the appliances homeowners and businesses rely on every day, from kitchen and laundry equipment to commercial refrigeration.
Keep your Whirlpool appliances on a maintenance schedule, with priority scheduling and savings on repairs.

Whirlpool refrigerator not cooling or washer leaking? Request service and we will get a technician to you as soon as possible. When a Whirlpool refrigerator stops cooling or a washer or dishwasher is leaking, request service and we will get a technician to you as soon as possible. If you smell gas near a Whirlpool range or dryer, leave the home and call your gas utility or 911 from outside first.
ALAS diagnoses and repairs every major Whirlpool appliance: Whirlpool washer repair, refrigerator repair, ice maker repair, dryer repair, dishwasher repair, oven and range repair and microwave repair. Our technicians read the Whirlpool code, check it against Whirlpool’s published meaning and test the part behind the fault before recommending a repair.
You get a written estimate before any work, and every Whirlpool repair carries a warranty: 90 days for non-members, 6 months for ALAS members, and 12 months for every customer on sealed-system repairs such as compressor and refrigerant work.
Having the model number when you book helps us bring the right part on the first visit. Whirlpool puts the label inside the fresh-food compartment of a refrigerator (left wall on French door, top-freezer and bottom-freezer models, right wall on side-by-side models), beneath the lid on a top-load washer’s tub rim, inside the door rim on front-load washers and dryers, on the left side of the tub frame on a dishwasher, on the oven or storage drawer frame of a range, and on the front frame behind the door of an over-the-range microwave.
Whirlpool model numbers also tell you the type: WRF is a French door refrigerator, WRS a side-by-side, WTW a top-load washer, WFW a front-load washer, WED and WGD electric and gas dryers, WDT a built-in dishwasher, and WFE and WFG electric and gas ranges. See Whirlpool’s model and serial number guide (opens in a new tab) for every location.
ALAS is an independent repair company, not a Whirlpool authorized service provider. Whirlpool says its standard limited warranty typically lasts a year from delivery and varies by model, so if your appliance is still covered, contact Whirlpool first (Whirlpool warranty information (opens in a new tab)).
Once your appliance is out of warranty, or if you prefer a local independent technician, ALAS diagnoses it, gives you a written estimate and backs the repair with our own warranty. Repair usually makes sense when the cost is under half the price of a comparable new appliance and the unit isn’t near the end of its life; your technician will tell you plainly when it isn’t worth it.
North Texas summers are hard on appliances. Whirlpool says its refrigerators are built for rooms between 55°F and 110°F, and a garage refrigerator or freezer can struggle once the garage passes that. Long dryer vent runs in two-story homes collect lint and trigger Whirlpool’s Check Vent warning, and ALAS cleans dryer vents as well as repairing dryers. If your home has hard water, minerals can slow washer fill and leave film in dishwashers.
We also repair Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana and JennAir appliances, which are Whirlpool Corporation brands. Many share designs with Whirlpool models, and Maytag and Amana publish matching troubleshooting on their own support sites, but always confirm a code in your own Use & Care Guide.
Yes. ALAS repairs Whirlpool refrigerators, freezers, ice makers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, wall ovens, cooktops and microwaves, including Cabrio and Duet laundry, French door and side-by-side refrigerators, and AquaLift ranges.
No. ALAS is an independent repair company. If your Whirlpool appliance is under factory warranty, contact Whirlpool first. We repair Whirlpool appliances that are out of warranty or that you choose to have repaired independently, with our own written warranty.
It depends on the appliance: inside the fresh-food compartment of a refrigerator, under the lid or inside the door rim on laundry, on the left tub frame of a dishwasher, on the oven or drawer frame of a range, and behind the door of an over-the-range microwave. See Whirlpool’s model number guide (opens in a new tab).
Whirlpool’s resets differ by appliance: unplug a washer for 5 minutes, cut power to a dishwasher for 30 seconds, and switch off the breaker for 1 minute on dryers, ranges, microwaves and refrigerators. A reset clears a control glitch; if the code returns, the part behind it needs repair.
On top-load washers, Whirlpool says F5E2 means the washer can’t engage the lid lock, usually because something is blocking it. On front-load washers, F5E2 and F5E3 mean the door isn’t locking. See our F5E2 guide.
On both, Whirlpool calls F9E1 a long drain. On washers, check the drain hose position and the pump filter on front loads (washer F9E1); on dishwashers, check the filter, drain hose and disposer (dishwasher F9E1).
The most common causes are a water filter that isn’t fully locked in, a kinked supply line, the ice maker switched off, or a failed water inlet valve. Our Whirlpool ice maker repair page covers the checks Whirlpool lists.
Whirlpool says Check Vent and AF mean restricted airflow from a clogged lint screen or vent, or a crushed or kinked vent. Clean the lint screen and vent run, and have the whole vent cleaned if it returns. See our AF and Check Vent guide.
In most cases, yes. Repair usually makes sense when the cost is under half the price of a comparable new appliance and the unit isn’t near the end of its normal life. Your technician will tell you plainly if it isn’t worth it.
The cost depends on the part and labor involved, so ALAS gives you a written estimate before any work begins. A diagnostic fee covers the visit and is credited toward the repair if you go ahead with it. If you decide not to repair, you pay only the diagnostic fee. Call (469) 638-3215 for the current diagnostic fee.
Yes. Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana and JennAir are Whirlpool Corporation brands, and we repair them as well. Tell us the brand and model number when you book.
Repairs carry a 90-day warranty for non-members and 6 months for ALAS members. Sealed-system repairs, such as compressor and refrigerant work, carry 12 months for every customer. The exact coverage is written on your invoice.
