(469) 638-3215Bosch groups E16 and E17 together. Both say the dishwasher isn’t getting water the way it expects, and the first suspect is usually the hose behind it.
Bosch says an E16 or E17 code indicates an issue with water flowing into the dishwasher or with the filling system, and that water may not be able to enter. Its owner step is to check the inlet hose for kinks or damage, then contact support if the code continues. The closely related E18 means an issue with water flow into the dishwasher; for that one Bosch adds that the water supply must be turned on and should deliver about 10 liters (roughly 2.6 gallons) per minute (Bosch E18 article (opens in a new tab)). Bosch’s hose check, then what follows.
Turn the dishwasher off before you move it or touch the supply line.
Make sure the valve under the sink is fully open; Bosch notes the supply must be on for the fill to work.
Remove the toe kick and follow the hose for kinks, crush points or damage, as Bosch directs.
Run the hot tap at the sink. A weak stream there suggests a supply problem rather than the dishwasher.

Bosch describes E18 as an issue with water flow into the dishwasher, caused when the water level is too low or water is not being pumped correctly.

Yes. A supply valve left partly closed or a hose bent when the cabinet was reworked is a common way to end up with a fill code.
