Bosch Refrigerator E02: The Ice Maker Has Faulted

E02 is the code Bosch uses when the ice maker, or the controls that run ice and water, stop talking properly. A power reset clears some cases.

What Bosch Says About E02

Bosch’s US code list says E02 means the icemaker is faulty or the ice water system controls have a communication issue. Its step is to reset power at the breaker for 30 seconds; if that does not clear the code, Bosch says to call its customer support. A related code, E03, signals a dispenser user interface fault and gets the same reset. Food in the refrigerator stays cold during a 30-second reset, but keep the doors shut while the power is off. Bosch’s E02 Reset

This is the only owner step Bosch lists for E02.

1

Find the breaker

Locate the circuit breaker for the refrigerator in your panel.

2

Off for 30 seconds

Switch it off, wait 30 seconds with the doors closed, then switch it back on.

3

Give it time

Watch the display and the ice bin over the next day. A new ice maker cycle can take a while to fill the bin, so judge it after several hours. A new E02 means it’s time for service.

If E02 returns after the reset, the ice maker or its controls need testing.→

When to Call a Technician

Schedule a repair if:

  • E02 is back after the reset
  • No ice for a full day
  • E03 appears along with E02
  • The dispenser panel stops responding

Bosch E02 FAQs

Bosch says the icemaker is faulty or the ice water system controls have a communication issue. The code doesn’t say which, so the ice maker, its wiring and the control are tested in turn if the reset doesn’t clear it.

Bosch says to reset power at the breaker for 30 seconds. Keep the doors closed while the power is off, then give the ice maker time to cycle once power returns. If E02 stays, contact support or book a technician.

Bosch lists E03 as a dispenser user interface fault, with the same 30-second breaker reset.

A 30-second reset is no concern. For longer outages, FoodSafety.gov says a closed refrigerator keeps food safe for about 4 hours.
