(469) 638-3215Few appliances spell out the fix on the screen, but this one comes close. The message is usually a maintenance reminder, and occasionally the first sign of something larger.
Sub-Zero says Vacuum Condenser appears when the unit is not running efficiently or its temperatures are too high. It names a dirty condenser, a door that isn’t sealing and other unit faults as causes, and adds that a refrigerator naturally becomes less efficient than when new, so the message can also reflect normal aging. The article covers the 400, 600, 648PRO and 700 Series and Classic and undercounter wine storage, and addresses 600 Series units with serial numbers before 1810000 directly. Sub-Zero’s line on food safety is plain: it is not safe to keep food above 45°F. Source: Sub-Zero Vacuum Condenser answer (opens in a new tab).

Sub-Zero advises cleaning the condenser every six to twelve months; the grille or kickplate location depends on the series.
Use Unit On/Off on the panel, or turn the dial past 1 on older dial-control models.
Remove the grille or kickplate and clear dust with a soft-bristle brush attachment. Sub-Zero does not recommend chemicals or degreasers, and on caged condensers the screen stays in place.
Switching the unit back on resets the message. Sub-Zero says temperatures can take up to 24 hours to settle.

When cleaning doesn’t settle it, we check airflow, fans, gaskets and refrigerant performance and write up the price before any work begins. Because ALAS is independent of Sub-Zero, a unit still under Sub-Zero’s warranty belongs with Sub-Zero first.

Sub-Zero says the unit is running inefficiently or its temperatures are too high, often because the condenser needs cleaning or a door isn’t sealing.
Turn the unit off, clean the condenser, confirm the door closes, then turn it back on. Sub-Zero says turning it back on resets the message.
Sub-Zero’s cleaning articles say every six to twelve months, and warn that skipping it can lead to temperature loss or mechanical failure.
Sub-Zero says yes if the unit still holds its set temperature, while you monitor it and arrange a visit from its Factory Certified Service. If it is warming, book a repair.
