Sub-Zero Undercounter Ice Maker: Ice Light Flashing

A dark bin and a blinking ice light usually mean the machine stopped itself on purpose. Sub-Zero’s explanation points first to the water supply.

What Sub-Zero Says the Flashing Light Means

For UC-15I, UC-15IO and UC-15IP undercounter ice makers, Sub-Zero says a flashing ice indicator means the unit has entered automatic shut-off mode. That happens after two consecutive maximum freeze and harvest cycles of 55 minutes each, or after 120 continuous cycles without the bin switch being satisfied, about two days of constant running without filling the bin. Sub-Zero’s owner steps are to confirm the water is on, wait an hour for one or two batches, and remove the water filter if one is installed to improve flow. If the unit still won’t make ice, Sub-Zero directs owners to its Factory Certified Service. Source: Sub-Zero UC-15I ice indicator flashing (opens in a new tab).

Sub-Zero’s Steps for a Flashing Ice Light

The shut-off valve may be behind the kickplate, in a neighboring cabinet or on a lower floor.

1

Open the water supply

Find the shut-off valve and confirm it is open.

2

Give it an hour

If the water had been off, Sub-Zero says to wait 1 hour; the unit should drop one or two batches.

3

Take the filter out

If a water filter is installed, remove it and see whether production resumes with the extra flow.

If the ice maker still won’t produce ice, book a repair visit.→
