(469) 638-3215On many Sub-Zero panels the word Service blinks in turn with the zone temperatures. It is the refrigerator asking for attention, and the first thing to know is whether the food inside is still cold.
Sub-Zero links a flashing Service message to excessive compressor run and a possible cooling problem. Its owner answer shows a 600 and 700 Series panel and is tagged for the 400, 600, 648PRO, 700 and wine storage families. If temperatures are already high, Sub-Zero sends owners straight to its Factory Certified Service. If they are close to normal, it suggests turning the unit off, cleaning the condenser, making sure nothing keeps the door from closing, and switching the home breaker off for 30 seconds, which should clear the message. A steady, non-blinking Service light is a different case: Sub-Zero says that means codes were viewed in diagnostic mode but never cleared, and it offers no owner steps. Often several of these at once.
Sub-Zero’s list first, then what a technician tests.
Put a thermometer in each section before you start; the reading decides the next step.
If either section is clearly warm, skip the cleaning; Sub-Zero points owners to its Factory Certified Service at that stage and only suggests owner steps when temperatures are near normal.
Switch the unit off at the panel, vacuum the condenser with a soft brush, and check that nothing inside stops the door from sealing.
Turn the home breaker for the refrigerator off for 30 seconds, then back on. Sub-Zero says the message should clear.

An ALAS technician measures each zone, checks the fans and sensors and tests the sealed system, then gives you a written estimate before any repair. ALAS is independent of Sub-Zero’s Factory Certified Service network, so a unit under Sub-Zero’s warranty should go to Sub-Zero first.

Sub-Zero associates it with the compressor running too long and a possible cooling issue. Check temperatures first; warm readings send you to Sub-Zero’s Factory Certified Service, near-normal readings mean condenser and door checks.
Sub-Zero’s reset is the home circuit breaker: off for 30 seconds, then on again. Do it after the condenser and door checks, not before.
Sub-Zero says a steady indicator on 600 and 700 Series units means codes were viewed in diagnostic mode but not cleared from memory, and it lists no self-service steps.
If the unit holds its set temperature, yes, while you arrange a visit. If it is warming, FoodSafety.gov treats perishable food held above 40°F for more than 2 hours as unsafe.
