(469) 638-3215These two codes are about what the refrigerator is measuring rather than how hard it is working. Sub-Zero treats both as service codes with no owner fix.
For 600 and 700 Series refrigerators, Sub-Zero says EC 05 means the refrigerator has repeatedly read erratic temperatures. EC 06 means the evaporator thermistor has read open or shorted for more than 10 seconds or, as with EC 05, that the refrigerator has repeatedly read erratic temperatures. Sub-Zero states that customer troubleshooting is not available for either code and asks owners to share the code and current temperatures when they contact its Factory Certified Service. Sub-Zero lists no owner repair, so the goal is good information.
Note whether the panel shows EC 05 or EC 06 and when it first appeared.
Put a thermometer in each section for a few hours. Sub-Zero asks for current temperatures with the code.
If readings rise, move perishables to a cooler. FoodSafety.gov treats food above 40°F for more than 2 hours as unsafe.

ALAS tests thermistors, wiring and the control on site and gives you a written estimate before replacing anything. We are an independent company, so units under Sub-Zero’s warranty should start with Sub-Zero.

Sub-Zero says the refrigerator has repeatedly read erratic temperatures.
The evaporator thermistor read open or shorted for more than 10 seconds, or the refrigerator repeatedly read erratic temperatures, according to Sub-Zero.
Sub-Zero says customer troubleshooting is not available for these codes. A thermistor is a sensor, so it has to be tested with a meter.
Sub-Zero’s article names the 600 and 700 Series refrigerators.
