Nothing is repaired until you approve it

(469) 638-3215If a small dot keeps blinking on the display at the end of the cycle, the washer is telling you it held the spin back. That is usually the load, not a broken machine.
Speed Queen’s guides say a left decimal point blinking one second on, one second off at the end of a cycle means the washer did not reach its intended maximum speed in the final spin. Front-load models may show Er ub for the same thing. The usual reasons are an unbalanced load, excess suds or water left in the tub. Speed Queen’s fix is to use proper, evenly distributed loads and HE detergent, and to clear the indicator by opening the lid or door or pressing a keypad. It also notes: “An out-of-balance load may limit spin speeds.” Source: Speed Queen front-load user’s guide (opens in a new tab).

Typical signs at the end of the cycle.
Speed Queen’s three causes, then the mechanical ones.
Try these before booking.
Spread the items evenly and untangle sheets before the next wash. Speed Queen advises mixing large and small items and not washing a single bulky item alone.
Use HE detergent at the right dose. Oversudsing slows a spin just as an uneven load does.
Speed Queen ties vibration and noise to uneven leveling. Adjust the feet until the cabinet doesn’t rock.

We check the drain, suspension, motor and drive, then give you the cause and a written price before any repair. One clarification: ALAS is an independent repair company, separate from Speed Queen and Alliance Laundry Systems service.

If it is the left decimal blinking at the end of a cycle, Speed Queen says the final spin didn’t reach full speed. A right-side decimal flashing every five minutes while the washer is off is different: Speed Queen calls that Idle Mode.
Speed Queen’s front-load guide says the washer may stop and restart the spin on its own to correct an imbalance. If it is severe, press Start/Pause and redistribute the load.
Yes, with care. Speed Queen’s top-load guide says waterproof items should fill no more than half the tub, and single heavy items balance poorly on their own.
When balanced, correctly dosed loads keep coming out wet, or the washer bangs in spin. That points to the drain, suspension or drive, and a technician should look.
