Nothing is repaired until you approve it

(469) 638-3215Er FL appears on Speed Queen top-load and front-load washers when water trickles in too slowly. The usual culprits are a half-closed faucet or clogged screens at the hose ends.
Speed Queen’s user’s guides say Er FL appears when the washer has not reached its fill level after 30 minutes of a wash or rinse fill. It is a timer, not a sensor failure: the machine waited half an hour and gave up. That is why supply problems cause it so often. A faucet that was bumped half closed, an inlet hose folded behind the cabinet, or filter screens packed with sediment can all slow the flow enough. After the checks, Speed Queen says to unplug the washer for 15 seconds to clear the code. Source: Speed Queen top-load user’s guide (opens in a new tab).

Owners tend to notice one or more of these first.
The first three come from Speed Queen’s own checklist.
Do these in order, then start a fresh cycle and watch the fill.
Turn the hot and cold valves behind the washer counterclockwise until they stop. A valve left only a quarter-turn open is easy to miss and is enough to trigger this code.
With the faucets off, pull the washer out enough to see the inlet hoses. Remove any kinks, then check the small filter screens at the hose connections. Speed Queen says to check them every six months. If filling seems slow between checks, we suggest looking sooner.
Unplug the washer for 15 seconds, plug it back in and run a short cycle. Watch that water enters at a steady rate.

We measure flow at the valve, test the inlet valve coils and check level sensing, then give you the price in writing before any work. ALAS is an independent company, not part of Speed Queen or Alliance Laundry Systems service.

Thirty minutes. Speed Queen’s guides say the code appears when the fill level hasn’t been reached after 30 minutes of a wash or rinse fill.
Yes. Er FL is the 30-minute limit. Er nF means the washer sensed little or no change in water level within about 5 minutes. Both point to the water supply first; see our Er nF guide.
Speed Queen’s top-load guide says cleaning plugged screens is the owner’s responsibility and isn’t treated as a product failure, so it is worth checking them yourself before booking anyone.
It can. If pressure is weak at every faucet in the house, the washer will fill slowly too. If other faucets are strong, the inlet valve is the next thing a technician tests.
