(469) 638-3215Where Er FL waits half an hour, Er nF trips early: the control expected the level to climb within minutes and it barely moved. Start at the faucets and work inward.
Speed Queen describes Er nF as the washer not reaching the proper level, or sensing little to no change in water level within 5 minutes of a fill. The early trip catches a supply that has stopped almost completely, such as both faucets closed after a plumber’s visit, a frozen or crushed hose, or screens blocked solid. Speed Queen’s owner steps match those for Er FL: confirm the faucets are on, check the hoses for kinks, clean the screens and unplug the machine for 15 seconds. The code appears in both the top-load and front-load guides. Source: Speed Queen front-load user’s guide (opens in a new tab).

These usually appear in the first few minutes of a cycle.
Supply problems first, parts second.
Speed Queen’s checks, in the order we would do them.
Open a nearby sink tap to make sure the house has water, then turn both washer faucets fully on.
A washer pushed back against the wall can flatten an inlet hose. Ease it forward, free the hoses and make sure the screens at each connection aren’t clogged.
Speed Queen says this clears the code. Plug it back in and start a new cycle while you listen for water entering.

A valve that hums without opening, or a level sensor reading wrong, needs testing. We find which one and quote it before starting. Note that we work independently of Speed Queen and Alliance Laundry Systems and are not their service provider.

Speed Queen’s guides say the washer looks for a change in water level within about 5 minutes. If it sees almost none, it stops early rather than waiting the full 30 minutes it allows before Er FL.
Often the inlet valve is getting power but not opening, or the screens in front of it are blocked. Clean the screens first; if it still buzzes dry, the valve needs testing.
Yes, if it was a closed faucet and the next cycles fill normally. If it keeps returning, have it checked before a stuck valve causes the opposite problem.
Yes. The code and the owner steps are the same in Speed Queen’s top-load and front-load user’s guides.
