Speed Queen Er dU: The Front-Load Door Won’t Release
Your laundry is behind the glass and the door won’t open. Er dU is Speed Queen’s code for a door lock that didn’t release, and the first step is simply waiting it out unplugged.
What Er dU Means on a Speed Queen Front-Loader
Speed Queen’s front-load guide says Er dU appears when the door will not unlock. The instruction is to unplug the washer for three minutes and call for service if the code reappears. The Door Lock light tells you what the lock is doing: it flashes while the door locks, stays lit while the door is locked, and the door can’t open while it is on. If water is visible in the drum, the washer may also need to drain before the door can open safely; a drain problem shows as Er dr. Don’t pull or bypass the latch
Speed Queen warns against bypassing the loading door switch. Forcing the handle can break the latch or the lock.

Speed Queen Door Code Questions
Speed Queen’s front-load guide lists Er do for a door sensed open during a cycle and Er dL for a door sensed unlocked during a cycle; unplugging clears both. A separate code means the door hasn’t locked: close it firmly and restart, and call for service if it continues.
Speed Queen says to press Start/Pause, wait for the door to unlock and the Door Lock light to go out, then open the door.
The door is in the middle of locking. Speed Queen describes it flashing one second on, one second off while the lock engages.
