(469) 638-3215Sr on the display during a cycle and Er SL at the end are two halves of the same story. The washer found more suds than it should and worked to rinse them out.
Speed Queen says Sr, shown with the cycle time, means the control detected oversudsing and is running a special routine to remove the excess suds; no action is needed while it runs. Er SL appears after the cycle, for one minute or until Power/Cancel is pressed, to tell you it happened. The fix Speed Queen gives is about detergent and load size: use a low-sudsing high efficiency (HE) detergent, and if you use regular detergent, use only half the maker’s recommended amount. Excess suds can also keep the final spin from reaching full speed. Source: Speed Queen top-load user’s guide (opens in a new tab).

Look for these along with Sr or Er SL.
Almost always detergent; occasionally a drain problem.
Speed Queen’s fix is in the detergent cup.
When Sr shows, the washer is already clearing the suds. Let the routine run instead of canceling.
Look for the HE logo or the words high efficiency on the label. Speed Queen says non-HE detergent should be used at half the recommended amount.
Follow the label dose for the load and soil level. On front-loaders, Speed Queen says single-load packets and laundry sheets go in the drum, not the dispenser drawer.

A weak drain can mimic oversudsing. We check the pump and drain path and give you a written price first. ALAS is independent; Speed Queen and Alliance Laundry Systems do not send us their service calls.

No. Speed Queen says Sr means the washer is running a routine to remove excess suds. Letting it finish gives the cleanest result.
Speed Queen recommends HE detergent. If you use non-HE, its guides say to use only half of the manufacturer’s recommended amount.
It clears on its own after one minute, or press Power/Cancel, according to Speed Queen’s guide.
Rarely, but if the dose is right and it keeps happening, or water stays in the tub, the drain pump or drain path is the next place to look. See our Er dr guide.
