(469) 638-3215Er PS is one of the few Speed Queen codes with no owner checklist. The guides go straight to unplugging the machine and calling for service, and here is why.
Speed Queen says Er PS means the control has detected trouble sensing the water fill level. Unlike the fill and drain codes, there are no faucet or hose steps listed: the instruction in both the top-load and front-load guides is to unplug the machine and call for service. The washer depends on that reading to know when to stop filling, when to agitate or tumble and when the tub is empty, so running it without reliable sensing risks overfilling. A technician checks the pressure sensing parts, the small air hose or chamber they rely on and the connection to the control. Source: Speed Queen top-load user’s guide (opens in a new tab).

Er PS often follows one of these.
These are technician checks; the guide lists no owner fix.
Speed Queen’s guidance is short, so these steps are mostly about safety.
This is Speed Queen’s first instruction. Leave it unplugged so it can’t start another fill without accurate level sensing.
Closing both water valves protects the floor in case the washer misreads the level and keeps filling.
Tell us whether the code appeared at fill, mid-wash or at the end, and whether any other codes showed first. It shortens the diagnosis.

We test the level sensing circuit from the sensor to the control and give you the diagnosis and price in writing before any work. We are not affiliated with Speed Queen or Alliance Laundry Systems service; ALAS repairs these washers independently.

Speed Queen doesn’t list a reset for this one. Its guides say to unplug the machine and call for service.
We wouldn’t. The washer relies on level sensing to stop filling, so a faulty reading can lead to overfilling or a cycle that never progresses.
No. The sensor, its air hose and the wiring are tested first. A board is replaced only when those check out.
Yes. The code and the instruction to call for service appear in both residential user’s guides.
