Getting a Bosch Ice Maker Producing Again
Bosch gives its ice makers two dedicated codes. E02 means the ice maker is faulty or the controls that run the ice and water system have a communication issue, and E03 points to a fault in the dispenser panel. For both, Bosch’s step is a 30-second power reset at the breaker, and a code that returns is a service call. Plenty of ice problems arrive with no code at all, though. A closed or kinked water line, a filter that is overdue or seated wrong, or a freezer running warm will all slow or stop ice without the display saying a word. On a visit anywhere in Dallas–Fort Worth, your technician checks the supply, the filter and the freezer temperature first, then tests the water valve, the ice maker module and the dispenser, and gives you a written price before replacing anything.
Bosch rates the ice maker in its 500 Series French-door refrigerators at up to 12 pounds a day and the 100 Series at up to 8 pounds, measured over 24 hours with the bin removed. If yours makes far less than that, or none, tell us when you book.
Common ice maker problems
Bosch Ice Maker Problems We Fix
Start with your symptom and the linked guide.
| Symptom | Common causes a technician checks | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| No ice and E02 on the display | A faulty ice maker or a communication issue with the ice and water controls, as Bosch describes it. | Bosch E02 guide |
| Dispenser panel won’t respond or E03 | A dispenser user interface fault, which Bosch lists as E03. | Bosch E02 guide |
| No ice, no code | The water supply off or kinked behind the refrigerator, a clogged filter, or a freezer too warm to freeze cubes. | Ice maker repair |
| Small or hollow cubes | Low water flow from a tired filter, low household pressure or a partly failed inlet valve. | Ice maker repair |
| Ice but no water from the door | A frozen dispenser line, an inlet valve fault or a dispenser control problem. | Bosch refrigerator repair |
| Ice clumped in the bin | Cubes melting and refreezing from a door left ajar, temperature swings or long stretches without use. | Ice maker repair |
| Water leaking near the ice maker | A loose fill tube, an overfilling valve or a cracked line inside the freezer. | Bosch refrigerator repair |
| Ice tastes or smells off | An old water filter, ice sitting too long, or odors from uncovered food in the freezer. | Ice maker repair |
Bosch Ice Maker Parts We Repair
Ice and water parts matched to your refrigerator’s E-Nr.
Ice Maker Modules
Ice maker units that stop cycling, freeze up or won’t push ice into the bin.
Water Inlet Valves
Inlet valves that stick open, leak or fill the mold too weakly to make full cubes.
Supply Lines and Fill Tubes
Supply lines behind the refrigerator and fill tubes into the freezer that kink, freeze or leak.
Water Filters and Housings
Filters that are overdue or not fully seated, and housings that crack or leak.
Dispenser Panels
Door dispenser panels behind E03, along with buttons and paddles that no longer respond.
Ice and Water Controls
Communication faults behind E02.
Freezer Temperature Parts
Freezer fans, sensors and defrost parts, since a warm freezer slows or stops ice.
Bins and Augers
Bins, augers and motors when ice clumps, jams or won’t dispense.
Repair or replace
Fixing a Bosch Ice Maker Versus Living Without It
An ice maker fault almost never justifies replacing a Bosch refrigerator that still cools well. The ice maker, valve and dispenser panel are replaceable parts. Check the warranty first: Bosch covers the whole refrigerator for its first year, and built-in models carry parts-only electronics coverage through year 5, which can include the controls behind an E02.
Usually worth repairing
- The refrigerator still holds temperature
- The fault is the ice maker, valve or panel
- It is a built-in model under longer coverage
- You rely on the door dispenser daily
Worth weighing carefully
- The refrigerator also has a cooling fault
- Water damage has reached the cabinet
- The ice maker has been replaced before
- Bagged ice would do for your household

Leak
Water Leaking From the Ice Maker?
Close the water supply valve feeding the refrigerator and soak up what has pooled. Keep the doors closed so food stays cold, then schedule a technician; a visit outside regular hours costs extra.

Bosch Ice Maker Questions
If the display shows E02, Bosch points to the ice maker or its controls. With no code, check that the water supply is on and the line isn’t kinked, that the filter is current and seated, and that the freezer is cold. If ice still doesn’t come, book a technician.
For E02 and E03 Bosch’s step is resetting power at the breaker for 30 seconds (Bosch error codes (opens in a new tab)). We found no separate ice maker reset on Bosch’s US support pages.
Bosch rates its 500 Series French-door ice maker at up to 12 pounds a day and its 100 Series at up to 8 pounds, tested over 24 hours with the bin removed.
Bosch lists E03 as a dispenser user interface fault, cleared the same way as E02. If it returns, the panel or its wiring needs testing.
A clogged filter restricts water flow, which can shrink cubes or slow ice making. Replace it with the filter listed for your model.
Bosch’s US warranty page lists 1 year of limited coverage, parts and labor, on the entire refrigerator, ice maker included, followed by extra parts-only coverage on built-in models, including electronics in years 3 to 5 (Bosch warranty information (opens in a new tab)). While that first year runs, Bosch support is the place to start. ALAS is independent, with no tie to Bosch or BSH; we take over once that coverage has lapsed, or any time you would rather have a local technician come out.
Yes. We work on Benchmark built-in and panel-ready models in place, as well as French-door and bottom-freezer units.
