When the City adopted its Envision Oak Point plan, Community Impact described it as a guide for development east of that highway. This side of town holds Plano’s original downtown, which grew up after the railroad arrived in 1872, and the Parker Road station at the north end of DART’s Red Line.

A 2013 Dallas Morning News look at the area between East Parker Road, East Park Boulevard, K Avenue and Jupiter Road found houses built from the 1960s through the 1990s, older than in most of Plano. Parker Road Station
The DART station at 2600 Archerwood Street sits near US 75 between Parker Road and Park Boulevard. It opened as a bus transit center in 1993, went by the name East Plano Transit Center, and began rail service on December 9, 2002. It is the Red Line’s terminus.
Campus, Parks and Plans
Collin College’s Spring Creek Campus is at 2800 East Spring Creek Parkway, at Jupiter Road. Bob Woodruff Park and the 800-acre Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve are also on this side of the city.

Change Along US 75
Collin Creek Mall, just west of the highway, opened in 1981 and closed in 2019. A mixed-use redevelopment broke ground in September 2021, with retail and restaurants planned to open in phases.
