Repair Service Along the Brick Streets of Downtown Plano

This is the oldest part of the city. Red brick streets and buildings from the 1890s surround Haggard Park, and the Downtown Plano DART station on East 16th Street brings Red Line trains right to the edge of the park. The district is also a place where a lot of people live close together, with more than a thousand residential units counted within a quarter mile of that station.

Homes here range from older houses on the side streets to units above or beside storefronts, so a downtown visit is easier when we know how to get in. When you book, mention the building name, the unit, where to park or unload, and where the appliance sits. The technician diagnoses the problem on site and writes up an estimate for you to approve first.

We repair refrigerators, washers, dryers, ovens and dishwashers for residents, plus reach-in coolers and cooking equipment for downtown restaurants and shops. If you are new to the area, the City’s Downtown Plano walking tour (opens in a new tab) is a good introduction to the historic buildings around you.

A Brief Look at Downtown Plano

Haggard Park and the Rail Station

Emma Bishop donated the land for Haggard Park to the City in 1928. The park sits between 15th Street, 16th Street and H Avenue and hosts the Plano International Festival and the Dickens tree lighting.

The DART station on its eastern side opened on December 9, 2002. It is served by the Red Line, with Orange Line trains stopping at peak periods.

The Interurban Railway Museum

At 901 East 15th Street, the museum occupies the former Texas Electric Railway station, completed in 1908. The interurban line carried passengers from 1908 to 1948, and the City restored the building and opened it as a museum in 1988. Car 360, built in 1911, is on display.

The building earned a National Register listing in 2005.

Rebuilt After the 1881 Fire

The railroad reached Plano in 1872 and the town incorporated in 1873. A fire in 1881 destroyed most of the business district, and the town rebuilt it. In 2017 Community Impact reported that the downtown historic district had joined the National Register as well.

The Douglass Community, known for its African American heritage, is part of downtown and hosts its Juneteenth celebration. The American Planning Association named Downtown Plano a Great Place in 2015, crediting DART light rail with its revival.

When a Downtown Kitchen Is Losing Cold

If a restaurant cooler is warming up mid-shift or a refrigerator at home has quit, call and describe what you see. We are open seven days, and visits outside business hours are available for an added charge.

  • Reach-in or walk-in above safe holding temperature
  • Cooking line equipment down during service
  • Home refrigerator or freezer no longer cold
  • Water spreading from under an appliance

Questions From Downtown Plano Residents and Businesses

Yes. The blocks around 15th Street, including the Interurban Railway Museum’s address, fall in 75074, and that area is part of our regular Plano coverage. If you are not sure whether your building is covered, send the street address with your request and we can check it for you.

Anything that affects access helps: a gate or door code, a loading zone, a garage level, or whether the unit is upstairs without an elevator. For stacked laundry or a refrigerator in a tight kitchen, a quick note about the space lets the technician bring the right tools and work out how to pull the unit forward.

Yes. We work on reach-in and walk-in refrigeration, ice machines and cooking equipment for food businesses, along with household appliances. Every commercial job gets a written estimate before repair begins, and if the problem comes up after hours we can schedule a visit outside our regular hours for an added charge.

Usually not. The age of the house matters less than the age and model of the appliance itself. If you can find the rating label, jot down the brand and model. After diagnosis you get a written estimate, and the decision to repair or replace stays with you.
