Nothing is repaired until you approve it

(469) 638-3215F9 often shows up on a newly installed KitchenAid wall oven or right after a storm knocks the power out. KitchenAid ties it to the supply, not to a heating part.
KitchenAid says F9, F9 E0 or PF appears when the oven control detects an incorrect voltage. Most often the oven is wired incorrectly at the home supply or the hard-wire connection, with L2 and N swapped. KitchenAid also lists power-line noise during an outage, and keys pressed before the 10-second power-up delay ends. Wiring checks belong to a qualified electrician. The reset is safe to try. Wiring is not an owner job.
Turn the oven’s breaker off for one minute, then back on. Don’t press any keys for the first 10 seconds while the control powers up.
Watch the display for one minute, then run a short bake to confirm the oven works normally.
If the oven is newly installed or the code keeps coming back, KitchenAid says a qualified electrician should verify the supply and terminal wiring.

We check what the oven sees at its terminal block and test the control, and tell you plainly if the fix belongs to an electrician instead.

KitchenAid says power-line noise during an outage can be read as an incorrect voltage. A one-minute breaker reset often clears it.
KitchenAid says pressing keys before the 10-second power-up delay ends can cause F9. Wait for the control to finish starting before you touch the panel.
Two supply wires are connected in each other’s place at the junction. It is a wiring error KitchenAid says a qualified electrician should correct.
KitchenAid groups F9, F9 E0 and PF in the same article on incorrect voltage. Which one you see depends on the model.
