AllianceTexas is a roughly 27,000-acre master-planned development spread across northern Fort Worth and several neighboring cities, connected by I-35W, SH 170, SH 114 and FM 156. Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport is about 14 miles north of downtown, and some 500 companies operate in the development, among them the FedEx Southwest Regional Sort Hub and the Amazon Air regional hub.
Heritage, a 2,300-acre Hillwood community begun in the early 2000s, is in the Keller school district, and Hillwood also developed Park Glen and Harvest, with the Vaquero golf community nearby. An Industrial Airport
AllianceTexas began in 1985, when the FAA was looking for a reliever airport and approached the Perot family, who owned more than 10,000 acres in Tarrant and Denton counties. The airport opened on December 14, 1989, as a partnership of Hillwood, the City of Fort Worth and the FAA, billed as the world’s first industrial airport.
It has two 11,000-foot runways and took the Perot Field name in December 2022.
Rail, Highways and Trade
SH 170, the Alliance Gateway Freeway, opened in 1992 and runs from I-35W to SH 114 in Westlake. Foreign Trade Zone #196 was designated in 1993, and the BNSF Alliance Intermodal Facility opened in 1994.
The intermodal yard handled more than 1.1 million lifts in 2024, and AllianceTexas supported about 137,000 jobs that year, according to the Texas Comptroller.
Shopping, Health Care and Heritage
Alliance Town Center lies on the east side of I-35W between North Tarrant Parkway and Heritage Trace Parkway. JCPenney was its first store, opening in October 2006. Medical City Alliance opened on February 19, 2015, with 55 beds and has since grown to 141.
Heritage was described by its developer as the first connected, fiber-optic neighborhood in AllianceTexas.
