(469) 638-3215Microwave not heating, sparking, or the vent fan stopped working? ALAS Appliance Repair fixes over-the-range, built-in, drawer and combination microwaves across Dallas, from Preston Center and the Preston Road corridor to Preston Hollow, Bluffview and Lakewood.
Business Profile

Kitchens in Prestonwood and Bent Tree, built mostly from the 1970s through the early 1990s, often use an over-the-range microwave as the cooktop vent. Many of those units have been replaced at least once, and the mounting plate, wall bolts and duct connection from an earlier model do not always match the newer one. A microwave hanging slightly off its plate can rattle, leak cooking grease into its own vent path and wear out the door switches sooner.
In remodeled kitchens across Preston Hollow, Bluffview and Turtle Creek condominiums, the microwave is more often a built-in drawer or a wall unit stacked with a speed oven. Drawer models have their own drive and track system, and a sticky drawer usually points to worn rollers or a blocked track rather than a failed magnetron. A microwave that sparks, runs without heating or keeps tripping a breaker should be left unplugged. High-voltage parts inside can hold a charge, so repairs belong with a technician.
Our Plano-based technicians cover North Dallas and nearby neighborhoods, from Preston Center and the Preston Road, Northwest Highway and Lovers Lane corridors to Preston Hollow, Bluffview, Devonshire, Prestonwood, Bent Tree, Lakewood and Turtle Creek.

Often, yes. Drawer microwaves, common in remodeled Preston Hollow and Bluffview kitchens, open with a motor and track. Food debris in the track, worn rollers or a failing drive can make the drawer stall or stop partway. Keep the track clean, and if it still sticks, a technician can test the drive and switches.
We repair the microwave first when that makes sense. If it is not worth repairing and you supply a replacement, the new model’s mounting plate and vent may not line up with the old cabinet and duct. Check the cutout width and whether it vents outside or recirculates, and we can talk through what will fit.
Stop using it. Sparking can come from metal in the dish, a damaged waveguide cover or a failing high-voltage part. Unplug it and look for food buildup on the cover inside the cavity. If the sparking continues after cleaning, or there is a burning smell, leave the repair to a technician.
