(469) 638-3215Gas burner won’t light, glass-top element stuck on high, or induction not heating your pan? ALAS Appliance Repair fixes gas, electric, glass-top, induction and downdraft cooktops across Dallas, from Preston Center and the Preston Road corridor to Preston Hollow, Bluffview and Lakewood.
Business Profile

North of Preston Hollow, many streets were built in the 1950s and 1960s. The Meadows was developed in the 1960s on the former Glen Lakes Golf Course, and listings along Northmoor Drive and Meaders Lane show homes from 1953 to 1955. Original kitchens in these houses usually had a separate cooktop set into a counter, and many remodels kept that layout while switching to gas, induction or a larger island unit. The new cooktop may sit over an older electrical circuit or gas line.
Each type fails in its own way. Gas cooktops tend to have weak or clicking igniters, often from spills or moisture. Smooth-top electric models show elements that stay on or will not heat, and cracked glass. Induction units may stop recognizing a pan, beep with an error or shut off when the cooling fan clogs. If you notice a gas smell or a damaged glass surface, turn the cooktop off and leave the repair to a technician.
Our Plano-based technicians cover North Dallas and nearby neighborhoods, from Preston Center and the Preston Road, Northwest Highway and Lovers Lane corridors to Preston Hollow, Bluffview, Devonshire, Prestonwood, Bent Tree, Lakewood and Turtle Creek.

| Burner keeps clicking after it lights | Moisture in the igniter or switch, failed spark switch, food debris around the igniter | After a spill, let the burner dry for a few hours before using it again.Possible causes a technician checks: Moisture in the igniter or switch, failed spark switch, food debris around the igniter Schedule a diagnosis |
| Yellow, weak or uneven gas flame | Clogged burner ports, dirty air shutter, incorrect gas pressure or orifice | A healthy flame is blue. | Electric element won’t heat | Burned-out radiant or coil element, failed infinite switch, loose wiring, failed limiter | Try another element and check the breaker. Induction cooktops have cooling fans and temperature sensors that shut the unit down when it runs too hot. A blocked air intake under the counter, a failing fan or cookware that is not magnetic are common causes. Check that nothing is stored against the vents below. If it continues, a technician can test the fan and boards.
That is a change involving a gas line and is a job for a plumber, not an appliance repair visit. Once the gas line is in place and the cooktop is installed, we can repair and maintain it. Before choosing a new unit, measure the counter cutout, since older openings may not match current sizes.
Often it is a cleaning issue. Spills and boil-overs leave residue on the igniter and the burner cap, and moisture can make the spark module keep firing. Make sure the cooktop is cool and dry, clean the burner parts and reseat the cap. If the clicking continues, the switch or spark module may need to be replaced.
