(469) 638-3215On a KitchenAid ice machine with a built-in filter, a flashing Replace Filter light doesn’t always mean the filter is old. KitchenAid says it also keeps flashing when the filter isn’t seated right.
KitchenAid says the Replace Filter light on its undercounter (freestanding) ice makers comes on after 9 months or 2,000 gallons, and that it “will continue to flash if the filter is not installed correctly.” So a blinking light after a filter change usually points to the install: the filter not locked, a crack in the housing, or a damaged or missing O-ring. A poorly seated filter can also cause low or no ice and thin, small cubes. Source: KitchenAid Filter light blinking (opens in a new tab).

Turn it off and back on. KitchenAid says to schedule service if the filter light stays on after the restart.
