(469) 638-3215Frigidaire uses E1 when its top-loader waits too long for water. Six quick checks from Frigidaire cover most causes before anyone has to open the machine.
In Frigidaire’s words, E1 means water is not entering the washer, or the fill time is slow. The washer measures how long it takes to reach its fill level, and when that runs long it stops and shows E1, sometimes displayed as “code 1”. Frigidaire’s checklist starts with the lid, the faucets and water pressure in the house, then moves to the hoses, the inlet screens and leaks from the tub. Frigidaire’s top-load articles don’t list model numbers, so confirm the code in your Use & Care guide. Source: Frigidaire E1 long fill time (opens in a new tab).

Frigidaire’s list, plus the part a technician checks if those pass.
Shut the faucets off before you disconnect any hose.
Close the lid firmly, then turn the hot and cold faucets behind the washer all the way open.
Run a nearby sink to confirm the house has normal pressure, and straighten any kink in the two inlet hoses.
With the faucets off, Frigidaire says the hose filter screens may be clogged and can be cleaned. Also look for water leaking from the tub.

We test inlet valves, screens and controls on Frigidaire washers and quote the repair before any work.

Frigidaire says E1 means water is not entering the washer, or it is filling slowly.
Yes. Frigidaire lists insufficient water supply pressure as one of the checks. If other faucets in the house are weak too, the problem is the supply, not the washer.
Turn both faucets off, pull the washer out, unscrew the hoses at the back and rinse the small screens. If you aren’t comfortable with the connections, a technician can do it during a visit.
When the lid, faucets, pressure, hoses and screens all check out and E1 continues. The inlet valve or the control then needs testing.
