Frigidaire Ranges, Stoves, Wall Ovens and Cooktops
Frigidaire calls it a range, most people call it a stove, and Texans search for Frigidaire oven repair more than any Frigidaire appliance except refrigerators, ice makers and dishwashers. The complaints fall into a few groups. An electric oven that won’t heat usually points to a bake or broil element, a relay or temperature sensing; a gas oven that won’t heat is often a weak igniter that glows but can’t open the gas valve. Then there are Frigidaire’s own codes: F10, which Frigidaire calls thermal runaway and describes as the oven detecting higher-than-normal temperatures, and F90 through F94, a door lock issue. Frigidaire’s first step for most range codes is a 30-second power reset, and we start there too, before testing elements, igniters, sensors and controls and giving you the price.
On a Frigidaire range, look for the model label on the left side panel when the door is open, or on the front frame behind the storage drawer. Wall ovens carry it on the interior side trim, and cooktops on the underside of the base. Tell us gas or electric too.
Cooking problems
Frigidaire Oven and Stove Problems We Repair
Gas and electric models fail differently. Here is where each problem usually starts.
| Symptom | Common causes a technician checks | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Electric oven won’t heat | A burned-out bake or broil element, a relay on the control, or temperature sensing reading wrong. | Oven repair |
| Gas oven won’t heat | Most often an igniter that glows but draws too little current to open the gas valve; sometimes the valve or the control. | Oven repair |
| F10 on the display | Frigidaire’s thermal runaway alert: the oven is detecting higher-than-normal temperatures. | Frigidaire F10 guide |
| F90 to F94, door locked | A door lock motor, latch, switch or control problem, often noticed after self-clean. | Frigidaire F90 guide |
| Slow preheat | A weak element or igniter, a failing sensor, or a door gasket letting heat escape. | Oven repair |
| Stove burner won’t light | Wet or misaligned burner caps, a cracked spark igniter, or a spark module fault on gas models. | Oven repair |
| Electric burner stays cold | A failed radiant or coil element, a burned switch, or a loose terminal. | Oven repair |
| Lights on but oven won’t cook | Demo mode. Frigidaire says to switch the breaker off for 45 seconds, then turn demo mode off in the settings. | Frigidaire oven codes |

Repair or replace
Fix the Frigidaire Range or Buy New?
Ranges last a long time, and most failures are one element, igniter, sensor or lock. Frigidaire’s standard warranty on ranges, wall ovens and cooktops is 1 year, so most repairs after that come down to the quote against the price of a comparable range. A wall oven or a Gallery or Professional range costs more to replace, which tips the math toward repair.
Usually worth repairing
- It needs one element, igniter, sensor or lock
- It is built into the wall or cabinetry
- It is a Gallery or Professional range
- The cooktop and cabinet are in good shape
Worth weighing carefully
- The control and several heating parts failed
- The oven cavity is rusted or badly chipped
- Parts for an older model are hard to find
- The quote tops half the price of a new range

Gas safety
Smell Gas Near Your Frigidaire Range?
Leave switches and knobs alone, get everyone out of the house and phone the gas company or 911 from the yard. An oven that keeps throwing F10 or running hot should be shut off at the breaker. After-hours visits carry an extra charge.
How it works
How a Frigidaire Oven Visit Works
Tell us gas or electric
Let us know what you have (range, wall oven or cooktop), whether it runs on gas or electric, and the code if there is one.
Reset, then test
We start with Frigidaire’s reset, then measure elements, igniter current and sensor readings before naming a part.
Written price
The cause and the cost are in writing before a single screw comes out.
Heat confirmed
We close out by running a bake cycle and the burners we worked on, and watching the temperature rise as it should.

Frigidaire Oven and Stove Questions
On electric ovens, a burned-out bake element is common; look for breaks or blisters. On gas ovens, the igniter often weakens until it can’t open the gas valve, even though it still glows. Both need a technician to test.
Frigidaire says F10 means the oven is detecting higher-than-normal temperatures, a safety alert it calls thermal runaway. Turn it off and let it cool; see our F10 guide.
Frigidaire says to disconnect power for up to 30 seconds, by unplugging the range or flipping its breaker off and back on. It clears most false error codes.
After self-clean, let the oven cool, then press Unlock and follow the on-screen steps, as Frigidaire describes. If F90 to F94 appears, see our door lock guide.
It may be in demo mode. Frigidaire says to turn the breaker off for 45 seconds, turn it back on, and switch demo mode off in the settings menu.
Yes. We repair Frigidaire gas and electric ranges, stoves, wall ovens and cooktops, including Gallery and Professional models.
In most cases. Elements, igniters, sensors and locks are one-part fixes. An older range needing a new control and several heating parts at once is where replacing starts to make sense.
Frigidaire lists 1 year of limited warranty coverage on ranges (Frigidaire warranty information (opens in a new tab)). If yours is still inside that window, book through Frigidaire first. ALAS is an independent repair company with no Frigidaire affiliation; we repair Frigidaire, Gallery and Professional ranges once the warranty has ended, or whenever you would rather use a local technician.
Give the oven time to cool, take everything off the cooktop and out of the drawer, and write down any code.
