GE says F9 (or FC) means a component has failed in the door lock circuit. The lock holds the door shut during self-clean, so this code often shows up around a clean cycle, sometimes with a door that won’t unlock. GE says codes vary by model, so confirm yours in your Owner’s Manual. Source: GE oven error codes (opens in a new tab).

GE points to the door lock circuit. These are the parts a technician tests.
Never force a locked oven door, especially right after self-clean, when the oven is extremely hot.
If the code appeared during or after self-clean, wait until the oven is fully cool. The lock won’t release while the oven is hot.
GE says switching the range or wall oven off at the breaker for a minute or two sometimes clears a code. Then turn it back on and watch the display.
GE has a reset procedure for a door that won’t unlock after self-clean. If it doesn’t release the door, the lock circuit needs repair.

GE says F9 or FC means a component has failed in the door lock circuit. Reset at the breaker; if it returns, keep the oven off at the breaker and schedule service.
Let the oven cool completely, then follow GE’s unlock steps (opens in a new tab). Don’t pry the door. If it stays locked, the lock motor or switch needs repair.
GE says LOC DOOR can flash when self-clean wasn’t selected, and has a separate reset article for it. LOC alone means the child lockout is on.
Self-clean runs the oven at very high heat with the door locked, which is when the lock motor, switch and wiring work hardest.
