(469) 638-3215Seeing 999 on your GE dishwasher, or the Start light and other lights blinking? Here is what GE says they mean, what you can safely try, and when to call.
GE says 999 means two different things depending on the model. On models with Floor Protect with Alert, it means a possible leak, and the dishwasher won’t start until it is serviced. On all other models, it means the control needs a reset. GE says codes vary by model, so confirm yours in your Owner’s Manual. You may notice one or more of these.
These are the causes GE lists and what a technician checks.
First check for water under the dishwasher. If you see a leak, turn off the water valve under the sink.
GE says to hold Cycle Select and Start for 5 seconds, or until 999 clears, then press any button. Floor Protect models need service instead.
GE says the Start light blinks for 75 to 90 seconds after a reset while the dishwasher turns off. That is normal.
For other blinking or beeping, press Start/Reset and wait 2 minutes, then switch off the breaker for 30 seconds.

ALAS technicians find GE dishwasher leaks and control faults, and give you a written estimate before any repair.

GE says that on Floor Protect with Alert models, 999 means a possible leak and the dishwasher needs service. On other models, it means the control needs a reset: hold Cycle Select and Start for 5 seconds.
GE says the Start light blinks for 75 to 90 seconds after the dishwasher has been reset and is turning off. If it keeps blinking much longer, try GE’s power-surge reset and then book a diagnosis.
GE says beeping every 30 to 60 seconds means the door was unlatched during a cycle. Close the door; if it continues, call us.
GE says LEAK DETECTED means a possible leak, and the cycle is cancelled on leak-detect models. GE says to always contact service. Turn off the water valve under the sink in the meantime.
