Book Your LG Oven or Range Repair
LG Range, Stove, Wall Oven and Cooktop Repair
ALAS repairs LG ranges, stoves, wall ovens and cooktops in homes across Dallas–Fort Worth, from single-oven gas and electric ranges to double-oven ranges with separate upper and lower cavities and induction models. LG ranges show F codes on the display, and the code helps narrow the search: F1 and F2 relate to the upper oven temperature sensor, F9 to upper oven heating and F10 to the upper oven door lock. Many LG ovens offer both EasyClean, a short water-assisted cycle, and a longer Self Clean cycle that locks the door, which is where many door-lock calls start. A technician tests the elements or igniter, sensors, door lock, fans and boards to find the failed part. You get the diagnosis and a written price first, and nothing is repaired until you approve it.
Before you book, write down the model number from the rating label and any code on the display. LG F codes point to a specific part, such as F1 or F2 for the upper oven temperature sensor or F10 for the upper oven door lock, so the code helps us bring the right parts. Your owner’s manual shows where the label is on your model.
Common oven and range problems
Common LG Oven and Range Problems and What Causes Them
These are the LG oven, range and cooktop problems we are called about most, with the parts a technician checks first.
| Symptom | Common causes a technician checks | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Oven not heating or heating slowly | Electric models: open bake element or a relay that no longer closes. Gas models: hot surface igniter too weak to open the valve, or a supply valve left shut. Either type: an out-of-range temperature sensor or control board. | Oven repair |
| Oven temperature wrong or uneven baking | Temperature sensor reading wrong, failing element or convection fan, worn door gasket letting heat escape, door opened often during cooking. | Oven repair |
| Gas burner won’t light or keeps clicking | Burner cap or head not seated level, moisture or debris on the burner or spark electrode, clogged burner ports, igniter, spark module or switch. | Cooktop repair |
| Electric burner or element not working | Burned-out radiant surface element, element switch, loose wiring or a relay on the control board. | Cooktop repair |
| Induction zone not heating or showing “No cookware” | Cookware not induction-compatible or too small for the zone, temperature sensor, cooling fan, inverter board or main control board. | Cooktop repair |
| Door locked after Self Clean or EasyClean | Oven still cooling down, door lock motor or switch, temperature sensor or control board holding the lock. | Oven repair |
| F code on the display or controls not responding | Temperature sensor, touch pad key, door lock, fan or a communication fault between boards, depending on the code shown. | Oven repair |
| Convection fan, broiler or oven light not working | Seized convection fan or cooling fan motor, open broil element or worn broil igniter, a dead bulb or a scorched light socket. | Oven repair |

Repair or replace
Is Your LG Oven or Range Worth Repairing?
On an LG range, a single F code such as a temperature sensor, door lock or heating fault usually traces back to one replaceable part. Double-oven and induction ranges cost more to replace, which often tips the decision toward repair. Older ranges with board-level faults or damaged glass are a closer call. Your technician explains the findings in plain terms and leaves the choice with you.
Usually worth repairing
- One F code points to a single part, such as a sensor, element or door lock
- It is an LG double-oven or induction range, which costs more to replace
- Only one cavity of a double oven or one cooktop zone has failed
- The cabinet, oven cavity and cooktop glass are in good condition
Worth weighing carefully
- Several different F codes keep returning across both ovens
- The induction or radiant glass top is cracked or chipped
- The main board and the inverter or several elements have failed
- The range is well into its second decade and parts are hard to find

Smell Gas Near Your LG Range?
Stop using the range if you notice a rotten-egg odor, a burner flame you can’t turn down, or sparks or scorch marks around the knobs or touch panel. A gas odor comes first: get everyone outside and call the gas utility or 911 from there. For an electric fault or a burner that won’t shut off, cut the power and then call us. After-hours emergency service is available for an added fee.

LG Oven and Range Repair Questions
Start with the simple check LG points to: after choosing a temperature, the oven only heats once you press Start. If it still stays cold, electric LG ovens most often have a burned-out bake element, while gas models usually have a weak hot surface igniter or a supply valve left closed after the range was moved. A faulty temperature sensor, relay or control board can also stop heating. If it still won’t heat, book a repair so a technician can test each part.
LG F codes point to the part that reported a fault. On LG’s list, F1 and F2 are upper oven temperature sensor errors, F3 is a touch pad key error, F9 means the upper oven isn’t heating properly, F10 is an upper oven door lock failure and F11 is a communication error. LG suggests pressing Clear/Off, then switching the breaker off for 30 seconds. See LG’s range error codes list (opens in a new tab). A code that returns needs a repair.
On LG’s range code list, F9 means the upper oven is not heating properly. LG’s first step is to press Clear/Off and try the function again. If the code returns, switch off the range’s circuit breaker for 30 seconds and turn it back on. If F9 keeps coming back, a technician checks the bake element or igniter, the temperature sensor and the control board to find which one failed.
If one burner clicks but won’t light, the burner cap or head is usually tilted, wet or dirty. Seat the cap and head level, and dry and clean them along with the spark electrode. If no burners light, check that the gas supply valve is open. LG’s burner troubleshooting guide (opens in a new tab) covers these checks. If it still won’t light, the igniter, spark module or switch may need replacing.
LG notes its ovens aren’t designed for open-door cooking, and opening the door during a cycle loses heat and can delay or restart it, so check that first. On a double-oven range, make sure you are using the cavity and rack the recipe needs. If one side still browns faster, the upper or lower temperature sensor, the bake element or the convection fan may be failing, and a technician can test each one.
The door stays locked until the oven cools to a safe temperature. Once it has cooled, LG suggests pressing and holding Clear/Off for more than three seconds, or switching off the breaker for 5 minutes and restoring power. See LG’s locked oven troubleshooting (opens in a new tab). If the door still won’t unlock, the lock motor, switch or control board may have failed. Don’t force the door.
Induction needs compatible cookware with a base large enough to cover the zone. If the display shows “No cookware,” the pan is usually too small or not magnetic enough. LG’s induction cookware troubleshooting (opens in a new tab) explains what to look for. If a zone still won’t heat with the right pan, the sensor, cooling fan or inverter board may need repair.
Yes. We repair LG single and double wall ovens and gas, electric and induction cooktops, as well as freestanding, slide-in and double-oven ranges. If you also have an LG over-the-range microwave that needs attention, see our LG microwave repair page, and we can look at both on the same visit.
It often is when one F code or one failed cavity on a double-oven range points to a single part, since LG double-oven and induction ranges cost more to replace. Replacement deserves a look when the glass top is cracked or several boards have failed on an older range. If you are comparing new electric or induction models, see ENERGY STAR certified electric cooking products (opens in a new tab). You get a written estimate before deciding.
Get everyone out of the house first, then call the gas utility or 911 once you’re outside. Leave light switches, the range knobs and other electrical devices alone on the way out, since a spark can ignite gas. After the utility finds the leak and says the home is safe, we can repair the range.
Write down the model number and any F code on the display, since they help us bring the right parts. Don’t force a locked oven door, because LG warns it can damage the door. If an electric range won’t shut off, switch off its circuit breaker. If you smell gas, leave the house and call your gas utility or 911 from outside before doing anything else.
ALAS is an independent repair company, not an LG authorized service provider, so LG warranty claims go through LG directly. We repair LG ovens, ranges and cooktops that are out of warranty or that you choose to have repaired independently.
