LG Washer Error Code UE: What It Means and How to Fix It
Seeing UE on your LG washer? Here is what LG says it means, the checks you can safely do yourself, and when to call a technician.
What Does LG Error Code UE Mean?
A UE code means the load in your LG washer is unbalanced. The washer tries to redistribute the laundry, and if the drum still can’t balance, it shows UE and limits or stops the spin.

You may notice one or more of these along with UE.
What Causes LG Error Code UE?
These are the causes LG lists and the parts a technician checks.
How to Fix LG Error Code UE
Try these steps in order. Unplug the appliance or switch off the breaker before reaching inside or removing panels.
Redistribute the load
Pause the washer and spread the laundry evenly around the drum. Aim for a load about two-thirds of the drum’s capacity.
Use the right cycle for bulky items
LG suggests the Duvet cycle for blankets and the Sportswear cycle for padded jackets, both at medium spin. Wash only the cover of stuffed pillows and cushions.
Use laundry nets correctly
Fill nets no more than two-thirds and wash two or three together with other clothes, not a single net on its own.
Level the washer
Rock the washer front to back and side to side. If it tips, adjust the leg on the low side with a wrench until all four legs sit firmly on the floor.
When to Call a Technician
Schedule a repair if:
- UE appears on normal, evenly loaded laundry
- The washer is level but still shakes or bangs hard
- You hear grinding or knocking during spin
- The drum feels loose or moves more than usual

LG Washer UE FAQs
Usually not. Most UE codes come from how the load is arranged. If it happens with normal loads on a level machine, suspension or drive parts may be worn.
Very small loads are hard to balance, especially one heavy item. Add a few towels to even out the weight.
Yes. A washer that rocks or sits on an uneven floor struggles to balance at high spin. Adjusting the legs usually fixes it.
A technician checks shock absorbers, suspension springs and the motor and its sensors when UE appears on balanced loads.
