How to Fix LG Error Code dE
Try these steps in order. Unplug the appliance or switch off the breaker before reaching inside or removing panels.
Close the door firmly
Push all laundry fully into the drum, check the gasket for caught items, then press the center of the door to close it firmly.
Open and close the door again
If dE appears, open the door by the handle and close it again.
Reset the washer
Turn the washer off and unplug it or switch off the breaker. With the power off, hold START/PAUSE for 5 seconds, then restore power and try again.
Inspect the latch and gasket
Look for a bent latch or a torn or loose gasket. Don’t try to repair the gasket yourself.
When to Call a Technician
Schedule a repair if:
- dE continues after a reset
- The door latch is bent or broken
- The door gasket is torn or has come loose
- The door won’t unlock to remove laundry

LG Washer dE FAQs
dE is a door error. The washer can’t confirm the door is closed and locked, so it won’t start or continue the cycle.
Turn the washer off and unplug it or switch off the breaker, hold START/PAUSE for 5 seconds, then restore power and close the door firmly.
They are all door-related codes on LG washers. The exact meaning varies by model, but each points to the door, latch or lock not being detected correctly.
We recommend having a technician do it, because the lock is wired to the control system and a damaged gasket or latch often needs attention at the same time.
