Fort Worth Dishwasher Repair

North Texas water leaves mineral scale, so Fort Worth dishwashers often show cloudy glasses, white film and clogged spray arms before anything actually breaks. Older homes in Fairmount, Ryan Place and Arlington Heights also often have dishwashers fitted into tight, older cabinetry.

A dishwasher that leaves standing water, leaks onto the kitchen floor or runs a full cycle and still leaves food on the dishes means hand-washing until it is fixed. ALAS Appliance Repair has been repairing dishwashers for families across Dallas–Fort Worth, including Fort Worth, since 2019. We repair built-in, panel-ready, drawer, compact and portable dishwashers from Bosch, KitchenAid, Whirlpool, GE, Samsung, LG, Miele and other major brands.

Every visit starts with a full diagnosis. We read the error code, test the drain pump, inlet valve, heating element, door latch, float switch and control board, and check the drain hose and filter. Then we explain the problem and your repair options before any work begins. If you go ahead, the diagnostic fee is credited toward the repair.

We repair dishwashers in homes, rental properties and apartments in Downtown Fort Worth, Sundance Square, the Near Southside, Fairmount, the Cultural District, West 7th, the Stockyards, Arlington Heights, Tanglewood, the TCU area, Ridglea, Wedgwood, Alliance, Heritage and Presidio.

Repair or replace

Repair or Replace Your Dishwasher?

Most dishwashers last about 9 to 12 years. A repair usually makes sense when the dishwasher is younger than that and the fix costs less than half the price of a comparable new model.

Usually worth repairing

  • The dishwasher is under 8 years old
  • The problem is a pump, inlet valve, latch, gasket or heating element
  • It is a panel-ready or high-end model that costs more to replace
  • The tub and racks are free of cracks and heavy rust

Worth weighing carefully

  • The dishwasher is more than 10 years old
  • The tub is cracked or rusted through
  • It has needed several repairs in the last two years
  • Repair cost is more than half the price of a new dishwasher

How it works

How Our Dishwasher Repair Process Works

Schedule Repair
  1. Book online or call

Tell us the brand, the model and what the dishwasher is doing, including any error code. We confirm your appointment within 30 minutes, and a photo of the model label on the door edge helps us bring the right parts.

  2. Diagnosis at your home

Your technician reads the error codes and tests the drain pump, inlet valve, heating element, latch and control board to find the part that actually failed.

  3. Written estimate

You get the price in writing before any work starts. Nothing is repaired until you approve it.

  4. Repair, test and warranty

We complete the repair, run a full cycle to confirm it fills, washes, heats and drains properly, check for leaks, and write the warranty terms on your invoice.

Minerals in North Texas water leave white film and cloudy glasses, especially without rinse aid. Use rinse aid, clean the filter and spray arms, and run a dishwasher cleaner. If film keeps returning, the water may not be getting hot enough or the dishwasher may not be filling properly.

Usually, yes, if the dishwasher is under 8 to 10 years old and the repair costs less than half the price of a new one. Drain pumps, inlet valves, latches, gaskets and heating elements are affordable repairs. A cracked or rusted-through tub on an older dishwasher usually makes replacement the better choice. Our technician will give you an honest recommendation.

The most common causes are a clogged filter, a blocked drain hose or air gap, a failed drain pump, or a clogged garbage disposal. On a newly installed dishwasher, the disposal knockout plug may still be in place. Clean the filter and run the disposal first. If water still stands in the tub, stop using the dishwasher and schedule a diagnosis.

Leaks usually come from a worn door gasket, a loose inlet or drain hose connection, a failed pump seal or a cracked sump. Using hand dish soap instead of dishwasher detergent can also cause suds to overflow. Turn off the water valve under the sink and switch off the breaker before calling us.

Clogged spray arms or filters, low water fill, a weak wash motor or a faulty inlet valve can all leave food on dishes. Hard water scale can also block spray arm holes and leave a cloudy film. Clean the filter and spray arms, and use rinse aid. If dishes are still dirty, the wash system needs a diagnosis.

Check that the door latches fully, the control lock is off and the breaker has not tripped. If those are fine, the usual causes are a failed door latch or switch, a blown thermal fuse or a faulty control board.

A failed heating element or thermostat, an empty rinse aid dispenser or a faulty vent fan are common causes. Many Bosch and other condensation-dry models are designed to leave some water on plastic items, so it helps to know your model before replacing parts.

Error codes point to the part that failed. For example, Bosch E24 and E25 mean a drain problem and E15 means water in the base, Samsung 5C means a drain problem and LC means a leak, LG OE means a drain problem and AE means a leak, Whirlpool F9E1 points to a slow drain, and Frigidaire i20 means the unit did not drain. Tell us the code when you book.

Food trapped in the filter or drain hose and standing water in the sump cause most odors. Clean the filter, check that the dishwasher drains fully, and run a hot cycle with a dishwasher cleaner. A smell that comes back quickly usually means a drain problem.

Call an appliance technician when the problem is inside the dishwasher, such as the pump, inlet valve, latch, heating element, control board or a leak from the door or tub. Call a plumber when the kitchen sink or household drain is also backed up, or when the water supply or drain line in the cabinet needs to be replaced.

We repair built-in, panel-ready, drawer, compact, ADA-height and portable dishwashers, including Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer models and European brands like Bosch and Miele.

Most dishwasher repairs take one to two hours once the technician is on site. If a part needs to be ordered, we schedule a return visit as soon as it arrives.

Most dishwashers last about 9 to 12 years. Cleaning the filter monthly, using rinse aid and running the kitchen faucet hot before a cycle help a dishwasher last longer, especially in homes with hard water.

Repairs carry a 90-day warranty for non-members and 6 months for ALAS members. The exact coverage is written on your invoice.

The cost depends on the problem and the part. We start with a diagnosis, then give you a clear repair estimate before any work begins. If you go ahead with the repair, the diagnostic fee is credited toward it. If you decide not to repair, you pay only the diagnostic fee.
