Commercial and On-Premise Laundry Repair

Senior living communities, hotels, gyms and restaurants run their laundry all day, and a down washer or dryer backs up linens, towels and uniforms fast. Commercial laundry machines run far more cycles than home machines, so door locks, drain valves, bearings, belts and dryer ignition parts wear on a predictable schedule. ALAS Appliance Repair has repaired commercial equipment in Dallas–Fort Worth since 2019. We find the actual cause, give you a written quote, and start the repair once you approve it.

Common problems

What’s Wrong With Your Commercial Laundry Equipment?

These are the laundry equipment problems we see most often in Dallas–Fort Worth businesses, with the causes a technician checks and a quick, safe check you can do before you call.

SymptomCommon causes a technician checksGuide
Washer won’t drainFailed drain valve or pump, clogged drain or shared trench drain, foreign objects in the drain, door lock fault
Check the drain filter and whether other machines on the same drain are backing up too.

Repair or replace

Repair or Replace?

Door locks, drain valves, belts, bearings, igniters and controls are usually worth repairing on commercial laundry equipment. Replacement is worth discussing when the drum, tub or frame is damaged or the machine needs major drive and bearing work at an advanced age.

Usually worth repairing

  • A door lock, drain valve or belt has failed
  • An igniter, gas valve or flame sensor has failed
  • A control board or keypad needs replacing
  • The drum, tub and frame are in good shape

Worth weighing carefully

  • The tub, drum or frame is cracked or rusted
  • Bearings and drive both need replacing on an older machine
  • Repairs keep repeating on the same machine
  • Parts are no longer available for the model

Linens and towels pile up fast when a washer or dryer goes down. These steps help while we diagnose the machine. After-hours and emergency service is available at an additional charge.

How it works

How Laundry Equipment Repair Works

Schedule Repair
  1. Call or book online

Tell us the type of machine, gas or electric, the brand and model, and what it is doing. A photo of the data plate helps us bring the right parts.

  2. On-site diagnosis

A technician checks the door lock, drain, drive, bearings, heat source and controls, so the real cause is found instead of guessed.

  3. Written quote and approval

You receive a written quote for the repair. The diagnostic visit is billed separately, and no repair work begins until you approve the quote.

  4. Repair and verify

We complete the repair, run full wash or dry cycles and confirm the machine fills, spins, drains and heats properly.

Commercial Laundry Equipment Repair FAQs

The most common causes are a failed drain valve or pump, a clogged drain or shared trench drain, and socks or other items blocking the drain. If several machines back up at once, the building drain is the likely cause.

Washers stop before spin when the door lock doesn’t confirm, the load is out of balance, or a belt, motor, drive or bearing problem prevents spinning. A control fault can also stop the cycle.

Uneven leveling, unlocked feet, loose base bolts on hard-mount extractors, overloading and worn bearings or shocks are the usual causes. Stop using a machine that walks until it is checked.

On gas dryers, failed gas valve coils, an igniter or a flame sensor are the most common causes. A tripped high-limit or thermal fuse, often caused by restricted airflow from lint, also stops the heat. Electric dryers often have a failed element.

Long dry times usually come from lint buildup in screens and ductwork, a restricted exhaust, poor make-up air in the laundry room, or a washer that isn’t extracting enough water during spin.

Clean lint screens at least daily, and every few loads on busy machines, or as often as the manufacturer recommends. Lint buildup slows drying and is a fire hazard.
