Dish Machine Repair That Keeps the Dish Room Moving

When the dish machine goes down, clean plates, glasses and pans run out fast, and a machine that isn’t sanitizing correctly is a health inspection problem. A commercial dishwasher is a wash system, a rinse system and, on high-temp machines, a booster heater working together, and each can fail in its own way. ALAS Appliance Repair has repaired commercial equipment in Dallas–Fort Worth since 2019. We find the actual cause, give you a written quote, and start the repair once you approve it.

Repair or replace

Repair or Replace?

Pumps, valves, elements, door switches and controls are usually worth repairing on a commercial dishwasher. Replacement is worth discussing when the tank or frame is corroded or the machine no longer keeps up with your volume.

Usually worth repairing

  • A pump, fill valve or drain valve has failed
  • A heating element, thermostat or contactor has failed
  • Door switches, gaskets or curtains are worn
  • The tank and frame are in good shape

Worth weighing carefully

  • The tank or frame is badly corroded
  • The booster is undersized for your volume
  • Repairs keep repeating on the same machine
  • The machine no longer keeps up with your volume

How it works

How Dishwasher Repair Works

Schedule Repair
  1. Call or book online

Tell us the type of machine, high-temp or low-temp, the brand and model, and what it is doing. A photo of the data plate helps us bring the right parts.

  2. On-site diagnosis

A technician checks the wash and rinse systems, booster heater, fill and drain, and controls, so the real cause is found instead of guessed.

  3. Written quote and approval

You receive a written quote for the repair. The diagnostic visit is billed separately, and no repair work begins until you approve the quote.

  4. Repair and verify

We complete the repair, run the machine through full cycles and confirm wash and rinse temperatures are where they need to be.

Commercial Dishwasher Repair FAQs

Under the FDA Food Code, most high-temp dish machines need a final rinse of at least 180°F, and some single-tank, stationary-rack machines need at least 165°F. Dish surfaces should reach 160°F. Check your machine’s data plate for its exact requirement.

High-temp machines sanitize with very hot rinse water, usually supplied by a booster heater. Low-temp machines sanitize with a chemical sanitizer at lower water temperatures, so they depend on correct chemical dosing.

A booster heater raises building hot water, often around 110°F to 140°F, up to the final rinse temperature a high-temp machine needs. An undersized or failing booster can’t keep up, so rinse temperatures drop during busy periods.

The most common causes are clogged wash arms or jets, dirty strainers and scrap screens, low wash temperature, a weak wash pump, empty or incorrect detergent and hard water scale.

A blocked scrap basket, a clogged drain line, a stuck overflow tube or a failed drain pump or drain valve are the usual causes.

Leaks usually come from worn door gaskets, damaged curtains on conveyor machines, a failing pump seal or a loose hose or tank drain.

Many chemical dispensers are owned and serviced by your chemical supplier. We repair the dish machine itself and can check whether it is sending the correct signal to the dispenser, then coordinate with your supplier if the dispenser is at fault.

It depends on your water hardness and how much the machine runs. Scale insulates heating elements and blocks jets, so follow the manufacturer’s deliming schedule, and delime more often in hard water areas or when you see white buildup.

Yes. If the machine isn’t reaching sanitizing temperature or wash performance is poor, we diagnose the cause and repair it so the machine meets its required temperatures again.

Yes. Our commercial service hours are 8 AM to 7 PM, and after-hours and emergency service is available at an additional charge. For an after-hours emergency, call us directly so we can arrange a technician.

Every call starts with an on-site diagnosis. The technician finds the cause and gives you a written quote for the repair. The diagnostic visit is a separate charge from the repair, and no repair work starts until you approve the quote.

Repairs carry a 90-day warranty, or 6 months for commercial maintenance plan members. If your equipment is still under the manufacturer’s warranty, check with the manufacturer first.

We work on almost all commercial dishwasher brands sold in the U.S., including Hobart, Champion, Jackson, CMA, Meiko, Insinger, Stero, Moyer Diebel, Fagor, Jet-Tech, Noble and American Dish Service. If you aren’t sure what you have, send us a photo of the data plate.
